Color of the Year 2017

Pantone’s Color of the Year 2017 is “Greenery“.

PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery (#88B04B)

Green is one of the main colours in the RGB-system which makes up all the colours you see on this screen. The colour is usually associated as an environmentally friendly symbol but in different context it can represent something completely different. I think green is a good colour because it pairs well with orange. This year’s color is also much more effective than last year’s colors.

After hearing about Pantone’s selection I got inspiration to organize a Greenery themed editorial photoshoot. In the beginning of the year it’s rather dark and cold in Finland and there’s not much green outside so the best place for the shoot was definitely Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden in Helsinki. It was very pleasant to go to the tropical environment of the rainforest in the middle of winter. My model for the shoot was Inka whose favourite colour happens to be green. She skillfully crafted the green tulle skirt for the shoot and did her own hair and make-up.

Color(s) of the Year 2016

Pantone has once again selected Color of the Year or actually two colors this year. Colors of 2016 are “Serenity” and “Rose Quartz“.

PANTONE 15-3919 Serenity (#91A8D0)

PANTONE 13-1520 Rose Quartz (#F7CAC9)

For the first time Color of the Year is a blend of two shades that are supposed to represent tranquility and inner peace. I think Pantone has selected these traditional boy/girl shades to avoid upsetting the peace of mind of any gender. Previous Colors of the Year have been bold and strong and at least I have liked them better. Color of 2012 “Tangerine Tango” is my personal favorite.

PANTONE 17-1463 Tangerine Tango (#DD4124)
